Sayo Komada is a Japanese shamisen player. She started with tsugaru shamisen at the age of 7 and with folk songs at the age of 10.
When Sayo was 15 years old, she won the world championship in Tsugaru Shamisen.
After graduating from the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2022, she participated in the recording of video game music and commercials.
Sayo currently has more than 500,000 Instagram followers and her shamisen videos are popular all over the world.
The video for a Red Hot Chili Peppers song has been viewed more than 13 million times and has also received feedback from Flea, the band’s bassist.
