… your first step into the third dimension
Would you like to spend Halloween Con creating a little piece of spooky-beautiful handmade art? Then come to our workshop!
We’ll let a little ghost—with or without a hat—grow knot by knot, and give it a small LED tea light to watch over.
Along the way, you’ll discover how a flat crochet piece transforms into a three-dimensional shape—and in doing so, you’ll lay an important foundation for future amigurumi projects.
You can find pictures and step-by-step instructions here:
Thread, knots, and lots of fun
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- to understand the transition from a plane to a solid
- to recognize when a shape remains flat and when it grows taller
- Learn a basic principle that you’ll see in many amigurumi projects later on
What is the result?
A small, glowing ghost—as a decoration for a Halloween party, as a nightlight, or simply for the dining table.
And the best part is: Once you understand how a flat piece of fabric becomes a three-dimensional shape, you’ll have learned an important basic principle of amigurumi crocheting. Heads, bellies, limbs, and many other shapes will follow the same logic later on.
With that, you’ve taken your first step from the plane to the body.
